Between the smoky aroma of fried rice and the chill of dishwater at the end of the night, a dream slowly took shape. Across the street, a simple sign for a computer training center cast a faint glow—offering lines of basic software courses that, at the time, felt like a language from another planet. Amidst the chaos of early-2000s Jakarta, that was where my fate began to rewrite itself.

I grew up as an only son in a modest village in Central Java. In my veins flows a blend of Central Javanese heritage from my mother and East Javanese grit from my father. My upbringing was forged in a culture that was respectful, deeply religious, yet firm—a legacy of discipline handed down by my late grandfather, who was a school principal back in his day.

In school, I wasn't the star student whose name topped the academic charts. My stage was the open field and the precision of formal formations. Sweat and resilience were the languages I understood best—whether chasing a football across the pitch, honing precision in karate, or standing tall to raise the national flag as a Paskibraka.

My first step into adulthood met a bitter reality. Getting into a prestigious university like UGM was my biggest dream. The acceptance letter arrived with joyful news: I was accepted. Yet, my family's financial situation told a different story. The tuition costs became an insurmountable wall we simply couldn't cross.

With whatever courage I had left and my dreams folded neatly away, I ventured to Jakarta. At the time, the world of IT hadn't even crossed my mind. I set off hoping to become a professional in sports or anything else that could turn our fate around. But Jakarta offered no smooth paths. The relentless momentum of the capital tested me without mercy; looking back, perhaps only 1 to 5 percent of the dreams I brought from my small village ever materialized.

Yet, life always finds its own way to weave a story. Our only job is to keep walking forward.

The year 2003 became an unexpected turning point. Washing dishes and waiting tables at a street-side fried rice stall never extinguished my curiosity. Night after night, staring at the computer course advertisement across the road eventually turned into real action. Starting from learning basic software applications, I fell in love with logic, lines of code, and how technology builds the future.

It has been a long journey. From hands once soaked in soapy water came more than 20 years of experience as an IT professional.

Life has taught me one profound lesson: financial limits and the failure of a first dream are not the end of the road. They are simply the universe's way of building resilience. I was not shaped by comfort, but by the decision to keep standing in the middle of the storm. Today, I look back not with self-pity, but with profound gratitude—because through that fierce tempering, I discovered who I truly am.
